CA Foundation Registration & Eligibility Criteria for -Nov/Dec 2023 & May/June 2024 Exam

A students have the option to enroll in any CA Course, beginning with CA Foundation and progressing through to the CA Final course. CA Course Structure

The CA course is divided into three levels. They are:

  • CA Foundation
  • CA Intermediate
  • CA Final

CA Foundation Registration dates for Dec 2023 is 1st July 2023. The last date to register for the CA Foundation 2024 examination is 1st January 2024 for June 2023 attempt and July 1st for Dec 2024 attempt.

The CA Foundation Course serves as the initial gateway for embarking on a Chartered Accountancy journey in India. Oversight of CA Examinations within the country is entrusted to The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Upon successfully clearing the CBSE Class 12th examination or an equivalent qualification sanctioned by the Government or an official governing body, aspiring candidates become eligible to enroll in the CA Foundation Course offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Individuals aiming to take part in the CA Foundation course are required to follow a structured procedure, involving completion of the CA Foundation Registration and Application Form. This registration process is conducted biannually, with intake occurring in the months of December and June.

CA Foundation Eligibility

Students become eligible to participate in the CA Foundation Examination upon successfully completing the senior secondary (10+2) examination administered by a recognized examining body. Subsequent to their registration with ICAI, students are mandated to fulfill a minimum study duration of 4 months, commencing from the registration date, to qualify for the Foundation Examination. To elaborate, students registered prior to January 1st will qualify for the June examination, while those registered before July 1st will be eligible for the December examination, as applicable.

In accordance with the revised CA Foundation Course instituted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, individuals aspiring to become Chartered Accountants must now pass the CA Foundation Examination as an alternative to the previously conducted Common Proficiency Test (CPT).

As a result, the registration process for the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) was discontinued effective from July 1, 2017. However, examinations for students who registered before July 2017 for the Common Proficiency Test will continue to be conducted until June 2019.

Steps for filling CA Foundation Registration Form Online June 2024 Examination

Step 1- Students who are registering for the very first time for CA Foundation Examination, should click here

You will be taken to this screen. Please fill in your required details and click on Generate OTP. You will receive OTP on your mobile phone and the verification link will be sent to your concerned mail ID. 

Step 2- Now Students are required to enter the captcha text and submit it for receiving OTP.

Step 3- For validation, an OTP will be sent

Step 4- Fill the OTP and by validating complete the login process  

Step 5- Once you complete the OTP Validations, you will receive the login details on Email/SMS so that you can log in. You can log in here.

Step 6- After you log in, you have to provide the necessary credentials in the registration form. There you also have to upload the scanned copies of your original documents.

Step 7- Now you need to upload your scanned photograph and signature. The maximum image ratio should be width: 21 cm and length: 27 cm.

On successful payment, the system will automatically generate a successful transaction message along with the form automatically.

Here you complete your CA Foundation Registration process, now ICAI will send you the CA Foundation course Study Material through CDS(Centralized Dispatch System).

Documents required for CA Foundation Registration Process

The ICAI CA Foundation Registration Process mandates the submission of the following essential documents:

  1. Attested copy of the 12th Class mark sheet or Admit card for students currently enrolled.
  2. Proof of citizenship for international students.
  3. Proof of category certification (SC/ST/OBC) for eligible students.
  4. Current photograph of the student to be affixed on the registration form.
  5. Copy of the 10th Class mark sheet, highlighting the student’s name and date of birth.

While filling the CA Foundation Registration form, candidates should take into consideration the following points

To ensure accuracy in completing the CA Foundation registration form, follow the steps below:

  1. Upon completing the online form, proceed to make the necessary fee payment using the provided online payment gateway.
  2. Upon successful payment, the system will automatically generate a printable version of the form. Ensure to print this form.
  3. Within 7 days of the online registration date, submit the following documents to the appropriate Regional Office of ICAI:
  • Duly signed hard copy of the online registration form.
  • A recent color photograph, affixed onto the printed registration form.
  • An attested copy of the 10th Marksheet or Admit Card displaying the student’s Name and Date of Birth.
  • An attested copy of the Class 12 examination Admit Card or Mark sheet issued by the respective Board.
  • If the student is an international applicant, an attested copy of proof of Nationality is also required.
  • For students falling within reserved categories or those with disabilities, provide an attested copy of the special category certificate (SC/ST, OBC, and Differently Abled).

Steps to Check CA foundation Registration Form Status Online

Students who wish to track the status of their CA Foundation registration can conveniently verify it online, ensuring the accuracy of their application. Two steps serve as confirmation of successful registration:

  1. Upon the conclusion of the CA Foundation registration process, students will receive a confirmation email containing vital details, including the CA Foundation Registration Number and a designated password.
  2. Additionally, students have the option to ascertain the status of their CA Foundation Registration Form by accessing the official ICAI website.

By following these steps, students can confidently ensure the completion and success of their CA Foundation registration process.

The subject in the CA Foundation Course

Paper-1:  Accounting (100 Marks)

Paper-2: Business Law (100 Marks) .

Paper-3: Quantative Aptitude- Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning & Statistics (100 Marks).

Paper-4: Business Economics (100 Marks).

For the above-mentioned papers, The Board of Studies issues its comprehensive study materials covering all four subjects.

Passing Criteria for Foundation Examination

To qualify in the Foundation Course examination, a candidate must secure a minimum of 40% marks in each individual paper within a single attempt, along with achieving a cumulative minimum of 50% marks across all papers. It’s important to note that this assessment is subject to the consideration of negative marking.

  • In addition to the above, students who have cleared the Intermediate level of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India or The Institute of Company Secretaries of India are also eligible.

*Candidates from Union Territories of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, North – East States were given 75%
concession in Registration Course Fee for Foundation (Rs 2250) level if they registered between . September
20, 2019 and March 31, 2022. The concession has now been extended from April 1, 2022 till March 31, 2025
and this concession is also applicable for Candidates from Andaman and Nicobar Islands registering from
April 1, 2022 till 31st March, 2025.
Wards of deceased members have been given 75% concession in Registration Course Fee for Foundation
(Rs 2250) level applicable from April 1, 2022.
